The history of Cakeory
One of my hobbies is web design and I decided to use my skills to create a website that, I hoped, would contribute to the online cake decorating community. It was a simple blog where I wrote about cake decorating classes, tips and just general advice for the cake decorating novice, like myself.
That site grew quickly in both size and popularity and I began to receive queries about where to find classes. I soon realised how underserved the cake decorating community is on the Internet and with a lot of help from my lovely husband, Derek, I began to grow and evolve my original website. I now run several cake decorating sites and you can find out all about them here.
What does Cakeory mean?
Derek and I were looking for an umbrella term that was short and catchy to cover our cake decorating websites, particularly for social media accounts and for this blog. After much deliberation and bouncing of ideas I came up with ‘Cakeory’ and the word stuck. In fact Derek was so pleased with the word he decided to use it as the name of our cake bakers directory, otherwise known as Cakeory. The name Cakeory is a combination of the word ‘cake’ and ‘directory’. It is also a play on the terms bakery/cakery.
This blog is a gateway to all of my cake decorating sites, which feature cake bakers, cake decorating courses and cake decorating blogs.
